In those first 1,000 days a baby's brain builds around a million new connections every second. Its body sets the baselines it will keep for life: how it breathes, how it holds temperature, how it fights off infection. And the way we watch over all of that today is a tired parent standing in a dark room, hoping they're reading it right.
Two and a half years ago, one of us was that parent. 3 AM, standing over a quiet crib, trying to guess if something was slowly going wrong. The thing is, it almost always leaves a trace first. A pause in breathing is a change in rhythm. A fever is a change in heat. A cry carries a pattern. The signs are usually there before the emergency is. We're just the first ones bothering to write them down.

Nearly half of all deaths under age five happen in the first 28 days, usually where no one is watching closely enough to catch the early signs.

Another 15% are newborn infections. They show up as heat and sound long before anyone reaches for a thermometer.

Every cry sounds like an emergency when you're new to this. You can't tell hunger from pain from nothing at all, so you're up all night, running on empty, and it wears the whole house down. There's no calm voice in the middle telling you it's okay.

In the NICU the tiniest babies are often the quietest. The warning signs are small and easy to miss. Nurses and doctors are stretched thin, working with wired sensors that react after something has gone wrong instead of before.

Around 132 million babies are born every year. In 5 to 10% of the ones who cry a lot, something real is going on underneath. No monitor today can tell a parent which cry is the one to worry about.

It runs on our own AI, and it's built to hold up to clinical standards while still sitting quietly on a shelf in the nursery.

What is Vera.1?+
Vera.1 is an AI infant monitor made by Inspirium Tech, a startup based in Ahmedabad, India. It watches your baby's breathing, temperature, heart rate and cries from across the room, with nothing attached to the baby, and tells you what's actually going on instead of just sounding an alarm.
How does it monitor a baby without any wearables?+
It uses a camera, an infrared thermal sensor and a microphone together. Breathing shows up as movement, fever shows up as heat, and cries carry patterns. The AI reads all three at once, so nothing needs to touch your baby's skin. No socks, no straps, no wires.
Can it really tell why a baby is crying?+
It tells cries apart by pitch, length and pattern, then combines that with what the other sensors see. So instead of "your baby is crying," you get "probably hungry, it's been about three hours since the last feed." When a cry looks like real distress, it treats it as an emergency and calls you.
What health problems can it catch early?+
A fever building before you'd feel it by hand. Changes in breathing rhythm. Dangerous situations, like a blanket over the face. Signs like these usually show up before an emergency does, and catching them early is the whole point of the product.
How is Vera.1 different from Nanit, Owlet or Cubo AI?+
Nanit and Cubo are smart cameras; they can't read vitals. Owlet and Masimo's Stork read vitals but need something strapped to the baby. Vera.1 does both jobs at once, vitals plus cry understanding, with nothing worn by the baby.
Is it meant for hospitals too?+
Yes. We're starting with homes, and working with NICUs and pediatric hospitals to validate it clinically. Today's NICU sensors stick to a newborn's skin and can damage it. Vera.1 reads the same signals from a distance.
How much does it cost and when can I get it?+
